Selection Criteria

Thank you for looking into our program here in Boise, Idaho! The information below may help answer some of your questions about our program.

Starting in July 2011, our residency became a second Internal Medicine residency under the University of Washington (UW) umbrella. We are separate from the UW Seattle Residency. We are physically located in Boise, ID, and have training sites at all three of the major Boise hospitals (Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center, St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, and Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center) and at office-based practices in Boise and other cities throughout Idaho. Additionally, residents are able to choose elective rotations in Seattle, WA, during the PGY2 and PGY3 years.

For Academic Year 2018-2019, we will be recruiting four PGY1s for the Preliminary track of our program, and nine PGY1s for the Categorical track (13 positions total).

Although the bulk of our residency activities are accomplished in Boise, ID, some administrative tasks (e.g. payroll, benefits, malpractice insurance) for our program are handled through the University of Washington Graduate Medical Education office in Seattle, WA.

Applications for the 2017-2018 Academic Year will be accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from September 1 to November 30, 2017. We will start reviewing applications on September 15, 2017. Please apply no later than November 30, 2017, to ensure we have sufficient time to consider your application thoroughly. All intern positions will be filled through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).

We will interview applicants from November 2017 through the first week in January 2018.
